History Made After Dark: Recapping the Toronto GLOWpen at Dentonia Park

Some nights just feel different. The air is crisp, the discs are glowing, and somewhere in the middle of a Toronto park, something special is happening. March 14th, 2026 was one of those nights.

The Toronto GLOWpen at Dentonia Park wasn't just another glow event — it was a milestone. For the very first time, a glow-in-the-dark disc golf event was played on the full 18-hole layout at Dentonia Park, the same course that hosts the prestigious Toronto Open disc golf festival. Fifty-eight players showed up, layered up, charged their discs, and stepped into the dark together. By the time the last putt dropped at around 10:30pm, it was clear: something historic had just happened.

The Course: Dentonia After Dark

Dentonia Park is a course that demands your respect in the daylight. At night, it becomes a different animal entirely.

The elevation changes that define this layout don't disappear after sunset — they get more dramatic, more exciting, and, honestly, more fun. Every uphill approach and downhill drive took on a new dimension under the glow, with discs tracing luminous arcs through the cold March air.

But the crown jewel of the evening? Hole 11. Known as "The 401" — a nod to Toronto's iconic highway and a fitting tribute to its 401-foot distance to the basket — this hole features an elevated tee deck perched a full ten stories above a well-protected green far below. In daylight, it's a breathtaking shot. In the glow? It was nothing short of spectacular. Players stepped up to that tee deck, looked out over the glowing green below, took a deep breath, and let it fly. It was the kind of moment that disc golfers talk about for years.

The Players: The Heart of the Night

If the course was the stage, the players were the show. Fifty-eight people came out on a cold March night not because they had to, but because they wanted to be part of something. And that says everything about the Toronto disc golf community.

The energy from start to finish was electric. The feedback was unanimous — smiles, compliments, and that collective buzz that only comes when a group of people knows they've just experienced something they won't forget. Glow disc golf has a way of doing that. There's something about seeing a disc light up the night sky that breaks down barriers, brings strangers together, and reminds everyone — experienced player or total newcomer — why this sport is so magical.

The Results: A Champion Emerges

When the scores were tallied, one name rose to the top of the leaderboard: Sean Galbraith, finishing an impressive 5-under par to claim the win. Hot on his heels were Dean Cowan, Chris Bunce, and Dan Belanger, all finishing at 4-under in a three-way tie for second place. Rounding out the top five were Mike Pelley, Justin Marchand, Mike Vaselenak, Michael Wilson, Dustin Pipher, and Northrop Blackmore, each carding an impressive 3-under on what was far from an easy track.

Sean's performance was as consistent as it was clinical, and he was quick to credit his putting game — sharpened through dedicated attendance at Toronto's East End Putting League — as the key to his victory. A champion win and a beautiful shoutout to another incredible group of people doing great things for Toronto's disc golf community. Well played, Sean. 🏆
