Glow Goes Global!

Dr. Glow Brings Glow Disc Golf to the Dominican Republic

I am still processing this amazing experience.

In the first week of May 2026, I had the privilege of joining the Paul McBeth Foundation in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, as part of one of the most meaningful projects this sport has ever seen. What I witnessed over those few days, and what I got to be a small part of, is something I will carry with me for a very long time.

A Historic Moment for Disc Golf

The Paul McBeth Foundation, in partnership with BLUE Missions and local leaders in Santiago, installed three brand new disc golf courses in the city, marking the very first time disc golf has ever been introduced to the Dominican Republic. One of those courses, a fun and challenging 9-hole layout, was built right in the heart of Parque Central de Santiago, one of the city's most active and beloved public spaces.

To say that the local community embraced it is an understatement. People of all ages came out to give disc golf a try, and the excitement and smiles seemed genuinely endless. Watching someone pick up a disc for the very first time and feel the joy of throwing it, of playing, of being part of something new... that never gets old.

The Paul McBeth Foundation has now installed over 354 holes across 17 countries. The scope of what they are doing to grow this sport globally is extraordinary, and being welcomed into even a small part of that mission was a true honour.

The First Glow Round in Dominican Republic History

For me personally, the highlight came when the sun went down.

I had the honour of hosting the very first glow round ever played in the Dominican Republic. Bringing the Dr. Glow Experience to the Caribbean for the first time is something I will never forget. The course at Parque Central came alive in a completely different way after dark, filled with laughter, cheers, and the unmistakeable sound of plastic hitting wood... repeatedly... because when you are throwing glowing discs into the darkness, the trees have a way of making themselves known. 🌳💡

Every single person who came out had an amazing time. Glow disc golf has a way of doing that. The visual excitement of a glowing disc cutting through the night, the energy of playing under the stars, the way it brings people together regardless of experience level — it is a universal language. And watching a brand new disc golf community discover it for the very first time, in a tropical park lit up with glowing discs and laughter... that is something truly special.

BLUE Missions: Doing Work That Truly Matters

One of the most inspiring parts of this entire trip had nothing to do with disc golf.

BLUE Missions is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower youth to advocate for a world where there is clean water for all, forever. Through service projects and sustainability education, they connect communities across Latin America to clean, fresh water, while building the local leadership and Water Committees needed to maintain those systems long after construction is complete. Their reach and impact is staggering.

During the trip, I had the opportunity to visit one of the villages that BLUE Missions had brought clean drinking water to. I do not have adequate words to describe what that felt like. Access to clean water is something many of us take for granted every single day, and standing in a community where that access was made possible through the dedication and generosity of an organization like BLUE Missions was profoundly humbling. The work they are doing goes so far beyond disc golf. They are changing lives and building futures, one community at a time. If you are not already familiar with BLUE Missions, I would encourage you to learn more about them at bluemissions.org. They are deserving of every bit of support they can get.

The fact that the Paul McBeth Foundation chose to partner with BLUE Missions for this project speaks volumes about the values and vision driving both organizations.

Thank You

A huge thank you to ChainLink Disc Golf for introducing me to the Paul McBeth Foundation and the remarkable work they are doing to bring disc golf to communities around the world. My contribution to this project was small by comparison, but I am deeply honoured to have had the opportunity to be part of it.

I can't wait to see what they do next! 🌍💚🩵
