Full Moon, Glowing Discs, and a Whole Lot of First-Timers: Our Night Back at Black Bear Ridge
Saturday, September 26 delivered everything we hoped for and then some. Dr. Glow returned to Black Bear Ridge for an 18-hole glow night on the Forest & Fairways course, in association with the ChainLink Conservation Series, and the whole evening was lit up by more than just our discs. A gorgeous full moon hung over the course all night, casting its own glow over an already glowing round.
The scene
Players met at Hole 1 at 7:00 PM and the shotgun start sent everyone off at 7:30, splitting the 9-hole course into two full loops for a true 18-hole night. The mix of players was exactly what we love to see: seasoned glow disc golfers who've been with us since the early days, alongside a wave of first-timers who'd never thrown a glow disc before in their lives.
The family that stole the night
One of our favorite moments of the night came from a family who showed up to try disc golf for the very first time, glow or otherwise! Not only were they brand new to glow disc golf, they were brand new to disc golf, period. Watching them figure out their throws, cheer each other on, and clearly have a blast doing it was a reminder of exactly why we do this! Open to all skill levels and no experience required isn't just a line we use in our event posts, nights like this are proof of it.
The Black Bear Ridge team, amazing as always
None of this happens without the Black Bear Ridge crew. The team was amazing as usual, making sure the course, The Turn Pub & Grill, and every detail in between ran smoothly so all anyone had to think about was throwing glowing discs under the moonlight. We're grateful for a venue partner that shows up this strong every single time!
